Need help
I am in need of some help with my Z28, i have a friend who is extremely jelous of the great Z that i found so as a cruel and thoughtless joke when he was over the otherday helping to replace the heat shielding stuff under the carpet, i had also picked up a set of new yellow jacket accel plugs and accel 8.8mm RFI supression wires. Set the holley 770 street avenger up for cold idle and then again after it had ran for about 15-20 minutes as was sugessted here on the forum. Long story short the car was running beautifully, the way a built 400sbc should run. I should mention that i also replaced all the vaccum lines with high temp silcon vaccum lines. We took the car out for a good run and it seemed to be perfect. This morning i went to drive the car and it was running really rough idle was terrible seemed to have lost some power and just sounded crappy. I called my so called friend after i checked to make sure that a wire hadn't popped off or that i missed a vaccum line somewhere, this tool tells me he turned the distributor cap about a 1 inch but he doesn't know which way. What can i do? and would this cause the problem i had this morning? Can i turn the distributor a little one way or the other and then see how the car runs? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the quick reply, the car is going back to the tranny shop in the morning they built me a really nice turbo 350 with a stage 2 shift kit ,red line clutches ect, ect. But they had to order the speedo cable gear because mine was dripping. I will have to pay them to set the timing for me. I was so p***ed when the tool told me what he did i wanted to climb through the phone and smack him. Well his loss cause he won't ever be close enough to the car again to do anything. It is going to be alright to drive the way it is for the 3km trip to the shop?

had the car towed the 3kms over to the shop, turns out the tool didn't just turn the distributor he also changed a couple of the wires around so it wasn't firing in the proper order. I have been told by the shop though that i should pull the plugs back and close the gap on the accel yellow jackets to 0.035 intstead of the the 0.040 i have them gapped at because of the shape of the plug, does this make sense? Here is a link to the plugs i used, the only difference being that my plugs are the yellow ones.

What gap should i set them at?
actually found the link for the correct plugs located here http://www.jegs.com/i/Accel-Spark-Pl...276-4/10002/-1

I wouldn't let that jerk near my car again. I would also make him pay the shop and the towing bill. If he refuses take it out of his a--.

To get back at him. I'd take him for a drive out to the boonies and have him get out to check a tire or something then take off and leave him there. Let him find his own way back.

I would switch his right nut to the left side and left nut to the right side and then see how he runs!

I will get him back for this idiotic stunt, it cost me $50 for the tow and another $50 at the shop. Only problem is this guy wouldn't know what a hundred bucks looks like! But next time he is dumb enough to call down my car and challenge me with his 01 regal gs with homemade cai and thrush glasspack muffler (yep that's right a glass packed thrush) on his riced out regal with all his d.bag friends I am going to toss my wife the keys and let her smoke/embarrass his ass!
