Tach kills spark

Hey, I'm not sure why, but when I try to hook up my tach (Autogage w/ shift light) to the terminal on the distributor, my car quits getting spark. Anybody know what's going on?

Sounds like you are on the wrong coil terminal and grounding your coil via the tach ground.

It could be a defective tach. If the tach has an internal short, it will load down the tach terminal and kill spark. Can you try the tach on a different vehicle and see if it does the same thing?
