"Ghost Shifts" -- the downsides to outsourcing to China

Western companies get taken to the cleaners by Chinese 'partner' companies

Now this is interesting. Shows what happens to companies like New Balance that go for the cheapest labour they can, then cry when they get out-maneuvered by wily Chinese businessmen. I'm not saying it's right, but NB has to bear a certain amount of responsibility for being the author of their own misfortune.

Thay wouldn't have had this problem had they kept their factories in the USA.

This is what will happen if you sell your ideas away overseas...

"You've taught a company to produce something," says one China-based investigator who requested anonymity, "and perhaps that's all those people know how to do. Just because you have agreements doesn't mean those people are going to stop doing what they've learned."
"When a brand owner shuts down a factory," explains Jeffrey Unger, CEO of GenuOne, a brand-protection management firm, "you'll see the same factory start up two months later making counterfeit product. They know where to buy the raw materials and know how to move product."

...to then gripe about it?... greed raises it's ugly head again.

Anyone ever seen "Knock off" with Rob Schneider and Jean Claude Van Damme from the 90's??? The scene where he's using the knock off Adidas that fall off his feet.

It was a taste of how it works....
Yet in 2000 the Rep Congress under Gingrich supervision and Clintons leadership signed our death warrant. China was ALWAYS about knock offs.....and we got our First tastes of it during our 8 trips to Hong Kong mid 90s. We only made it easier for them to sink all US companies and steal all their intel on supply and design.

This wormhole will be nearly impossible to close too.

Thank-you President Nixon for "opening China" and thank-you President Reagan for "Mr Gorbechev, Tear down this wall!. If we could only predict the future fallout of bad decisions.

This is THE reason that Intel has stayed in the US and EU territories with their processors.

If each one of you refuses to buy anything made over seas, you'll actually be doing something more than complaining.

I seem to recall a certain Texan who is slight in stature proclaim, "And you'll hear a giant sucking sound, that sound will be American jobs leaving this country." Sitting next to him was a male who eventually proclaimed, "Polar bears are drowning."

LOL
