This isn't the best setup to run for extended periods due to the engine needing to equalize it's internal pressures.

I'm having a similar issue. I run a PCV to carb on the right side and a open element push-in style on the left and am getting oil blow-thru at highway speeds. I figured the breather element would make for easier oil fume evac. Better off just capping the left side?

I've never had any issues using the stock layout. Driver's side has the pcv valve connected at the carb. base plate port, and the pass. side connected to the air breather canister with a small meshed filter. Seems to balance the crankcase condition quite well.
