sounds like the regulator isn't regulating right.

my guess.
crimping the return is causing the pressure to rise to the point it more or less works, but isn't a long term fix.

Can you borrow/rent a fuel pressure gauge and check if the pressure after the reg is correct?

Does it have a regulator at the moment?

If memory serves the regulator is on the back of the fuel rail. Without looking
isnt there a vacuum line going to it?

yes there is a fuel regulator, my guess is the regulator went bad, im going to replace it and see if that solves the problem if not I think Im going to get an aftermarket set up, I hope this solves the problem I need to get this done so I can go back to my Ls project thats if my headers ever get here.

So I replaced the regulator and its.doing the same thing again, the engine wont stay running what could be wrong now

You will need a fuel pressure gauge specifically for fuel injection pressures. Be aware that this is for TPI pressures, the LT1 pressures are around 5 psi higher IIRC.
