replacin a leaking pinion seal

I noticed the pinion seal on my car was leaking today.since i know it will need to be replaced i was thinking of going ahead and replacing the bearings too.I dont have the cash to have someone do this for me and since i will be using the original parts minus the bearings and seals.Would i have to set the rearend up as i f i was putting new gears in it or can i just put it back together the way it comes out?
