You go by the hp of a engine not cid. I have a 830cfm carb on a smallblock. I also have a holley 500 on a 6cyl 258cid

Edelbrock tech actually told me the carb was too small, he said I should be running an 800 on anything over 400hp.
I am going to check float levels 1 more time if tht doesnt help I might have to start drilling or just put the 700 Holley back on.

Take the air cleaner off, and rev it up to 3k or so. Let off the gas, and either with the choke plate or your hand, choke it off to where it almost dies. Do this about six times and shoot some carb cleaner down it.
This is almost free, try it and see what happens.

Why no vacuum advance? That might be part of it. I noticed mine ran much better with full vacuum rather than ported...never tried it without. But with that much power from a 355 the cam must be pretty healthy...and a decent cam usually likes advance.
