i have built and used a steel rotisserie in the past, but decided since i was only going to put my camaro on it, and wanted to save time building and money for materials, that i would build a wooden "tilter". it works awesome! i'll try to figure out how to post some pics

Thanks for the pictures. I'm in the process of doing that to my '79 and that looks easy to build. Can you give us some more information on how you built it?. I'm going to be working on a 11x25 space and this looks like will give a little more room to work. Thanks again.

i used a sheet of 4x8 osb 3/4" thick and cut it into 4 24"x48" pieces. then i used wood glue and glued them face to face held with 1 1/2" screws for the rotating pieces. after it was screwed together, i radiused the corners with a 24" radius. under the front is a 4"x4" that is bolted into the front stub mounts at the bottom of the firewall, with 3 pieces of 2"x4" spacers with 5/8" allthread screwing up into the mounts. then used a 2"x6" board to extend the rotating sections so the car didn't roll over too far onto its side. i used a 2"x4" board to go across the top of the firewall and bolted it with 3/8" bolts into the upper fender mounting position and screwed it to the rotating piece to support the upper section of the car. then basically just braced it where i thought it needed it to help support it. on the back i glued and screwed 2 pieces of 2"x6" boards and used 2"x4" spacers to bolt a 5/8" bolt through each side into the rear bumper mounting holes, then attached that to one of the rotating pieces that i had glued together and radiused. then used another 2"x6" board to extend the rotating section again to keep it from rotating too far. i also made sure the angle it rotated was more than 90 degrees so it would not fall back down. i also braced the rear section as i thought was needed to support it. i spend over $400 and several days on a metal rotisserie in the past. this was done for less than $100 and a couple hours of work. it is easily rotated with 2 people up or down. i added some 2"x6" legs to the driver's side so the car sits level when put back down.

For the cost and time involved I wouldn't mind building one just for storing and future project in my garage. Could casters be installed so it could be wheeled around while on its side?

Lol, id love to put my car on one of theese but i have no more rear bumper mounting hole as they weremrusted out. Will have to fabricate thoose before i do anything like this

sure, you could put casters on it. but actually it isn't hard to move around by sliding it on the floor. i just grab one end at a time and pull.
