Auto to manual console ????
I'm converting from a automatic to a manual trans.
What I would like to know is..what is the major differences in the auto and manual consoles?
Seems like to me, by just looking at it, the shifter hole is the only difference.
Can you make an insert to put in the automatic console to fill in the gap when used as a manual?
Has anyone modified their auto console to work with a manual trans?

seems like a neat idea! Cut the hole for the manual shifter and juset use the auto hole as an extra compartment area. Turn it into cup holders or whatever. I'm not sure what the measurements are but I have an extra center console that is crap. Give me the dimensions to it (the manual hole, and how far up it is etc.) and I will cut it and take pics
what year???? I'm talking about the 1979 console

I was thinking about doing just the the opposite. My t56 shifter comes up through the front part of the auto console, the manual hole is too far forward.
I was thinking about trying to somehow graft the manual box back a few, and then recovering the console. Ust gotta find a cheap manual console to experiment on.

Golf72, Thanks!! I was told I had to fit a "Mounting Box" on the hump in order to fit the shifter in.
What's your set up??
Engine?
Tranny?
