logging truck video

Interesting. I guess the guy who labeled it "crazy loud" doesn't get the concept of a jake brake.

without a jake brake and carrying 100k lbs plus of logs those trucks would easily lose their brakes and end up on the bottom of a steep drop off

Where I'm from we use off road truck called "Fat trucks" 16' wide bunks, some 60% more payload than regular trucks and built to descend blast rock mountain roads, roads that most of us won't take a beater 4x4 on.

those fat trucks are definate work horses pulling that much weight over nasty down hill grades . no jake brakes ,how are they not burning up the brakes ??

They're in first or second gear.

It's possible to drive a truck down ANY grade without Jake brakes if you go slow enough.

I had a 95 Peterbilt for two years that had no Jake Brake that routinely went down 25% plus grades. Yes it sucked, but it can be done
