Steering wheel off...now what

Okay, picture being a thousand words. I removed the Grant steering wheel that came with this car so I could fix the turn signal. Didn't need a puller to remove it, which probably was a clue. So, I'm left with this contraption and I have no idea how to remove it. For kicks, I tried to hook up my steering wheel puller but it doesn't fit the bolt holes (made by Craftsman). I have the lock plate removal tool as well, but it doesn't seem to match up either. What am I missing, this can't be THAT difficult (okay, it is for me). Thanks!

I jammed a screwdriver inbetween that lock and popped it off it takes a little finess, once you get that lock off it all comes out pretty easily, i didnt touch anything with my turn signal though i replaced my horn relay thing, so i cant help you any further

That's not a great photo but I'm thinking there's a c-clip holding you up. You'll have to force that plate down and hold it while you pop that clip. If you don't have the right tool it's going to be more difficult. Especially if you have only one set of hands.

They make a lock plate remover that pushes the plate down so you can get the c clip out without damaging it.

I couldn't get the adapter on with the steering howyadoin' in the way; but you guys did give me the answer I needed (that was, that the howyadoin' was supposed to come off). I used a small two-jawed puller and ever so gently popped it out. The lock removal tool worked like a champ and unbelievably the turn signal switch was just loose. Since I have it off I think I am going to attempt to find out whatever happened to the horn connections and go from there! Thanks to all!
