power windows to manual

Hey,

I am thinking about changing my 79 power windows to manual as it is a track only car.

will the regulators just bolt in? any other items needed, window channel, ???

Thanks

I think you only need the manual regulator, a window crank and the plastic "cup" between the handle and door panel.

My son and I did this on his Monte so it may not pertain to a Camaro exactly.

The power and manual regulators used different mounting holes in the door frame.
I used the door panel to line up where the crank handle is supposed to go and found the proper mounting holes for the regulator from that position.

It should only be an hour job but it took us about 3 hours due to not noticing the mounting difference from the start.

Look it over carefully before you drill out the rivets... Once the regulator is pulled out, it can be tricky to figure out how it's supposed to be reassembled.

BTW.... If you need to take the motor off the regulator, make sure you pin it in place so the spring-loaded mechanism doesn't bite you.
(The Monte regulators could be removed with the motor attached but I don't remember if a Camaro can be done that way or not.)

If we were closer Id offer up a trade. I want PW in the worst way.

Going from power to manual shouldnt be bad at all. Going the opposite way is a ball breaker. Gotta route the switches, cut holes for wiring and mount regs.

Too bad you aren't closer to me. I have a set of power doors and want manual instead.

I will be pulling out the old when I find manual replacements and can ship them if interested.

I only have the switch in the center console, dont believe there were door switches.

I just did the manual to power swap and have a set of manual regulators. If anyone wants them, just pay for the ride. Actually may have 2 sets but I'll have to check and see. Just let me know if anyone needs a set.

The weight difference is very minimal, having PW on a racecar is cool.
