Rear Backing Plate
I need some help. I need a 10 bolt 8.5 LH rear axle backing plate for my 77 camaro. Does anyone know what models and year GM cars will work. I'm located in the sticks where there aren't a lot of second generation camaros and none of the salvage yards seem to know what backing plates will work. Someone suggested an S10 but from what I've found on the internet it won't work for a second generation but a third generation it would. Any help appreciated. PS it is a 9 or 9 1/2 inch backing plate?

Most 8.2, 8.5 and 12 bolt rear ends had the same brakes and backing plates. There were a few changes made over the years, but nothing major. The full size cars might have larger brakes, but you could swap the larger brakes onto your rear end. The bolt pattern for the brake backing plates is the same for all of these rear ends. The 7.5 had a different backing plate up to around '90, so don't bother with them.
