You couldn't be more wrong.

The heads that are called "lightweight castings" are called that because of areas in the head that are not as thick as in others, thus they are more prone to cracking in those areas.
It has nothing to do with the overall weight of the entire head. "Lightweight castings" is mostly a machine shop term that means smog era, crack prone garbage. And 882's = garbage.

If you, by rules, are limited to running heads that came stock with a 1976 350ci, what would you run, recalling the previous parameters that I just mentionned, or would you just yell at the tech man "these are crack-prone smog era garbage".. Ditch'em!! Sometimes by rules n' regulations one has no choice or, mebbee yah jus ain't got dee money and you have to run what you got as eating n' rent is more important than "ditch'em"..
Might be a great topic for Original Drivetrain..
