Why I like using dynacorn parts on my project

There has been plenty of discussion on the site about the lousy quality of repop sheetmetal and while most of it is true, there is one company out there who is making an effort to produce better parts. Dynacorn is the comp. that started producing those 69 camaro bodies a couple of years ago and they make some good second gen parts too. Here are some pics of last summers project trunk floor repair using a dynacorn complete trunk pan.






You'll notice that their pan has all the support brackets already welded in place. This actually is a huge time saver and allows a better fitting of the trunk pan when doing this kind of repair. Like all things Camaro there is a trick to getting it in. The trunk pan has to be installed from underneath bringing the tailpanel end up through the trunk opening first. Oh and the trimming is super critical.

LOL............No !!!!!!!!! The welding was done by a friend who is a great welder and has the patience needed for this kind work. I did the trimming, finish work and paint. Oh, and I absolutely hate doing bodywork but I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Point is though, that there is hope on the horizon for better fitting panels coming to market through companies like this one. It seems that about every 6 months that a new part shows up and that's a good thing. Soapbox off...............

What type/kind of paint did you use to finish that trunk pan? That looks just right. I painted mine flat black 20 years ago and never did get around to finishing it.

NPD's red oxide primer pn # AP-42030N followed by GM spatter paint from NPD pn# C-8800-2

Then sealed with a clear coat .

First off your trunk pan install turned out great! You guys did a nice job beginning with your prep work!

I have also had good results with their panels. I bought both doors and fenders for my '86 S10. Keep in mind that the door hinges on these trucks are welded to both the door and the cab with the connection being the pins...no adjustments can be made! Both doors fit great...fenders lined up just as well!
