Long Block or Short Block?

I got my loan for my engine this week, and now I'm seriously shopping. Is there a difference between the ls1 longblock and shortblock, with respect to how they fit in our cars? Does it matter which one I buy?

Do you know the difference??? It doesn't sound like ya do.

Shortblock = no heads (which you're obviously going to need anyways)

Longblock = Heads on it, (but still no manifold or injector rails, etc.)

If you're not too knowledgable on engines to start with, I recommend buyin a complete engine to save yourself the headaches
of chasing parts down and then having someone piece it together for you. The install is expensive enough as it is.

aces hit it right on the numbers on this one, if you have the money to get a crate engine there is no shame in going that route, if you don't know how to put an engine together thats the best way to go. no guess work the professionals know what they are doing.

Dude, I have no shame in saying I don't have the first clue on how to piece one of these together. I mean, I know what all the components are, but I know all the SBC 1st generation parts, but I'm still no engine builder. I don't know what order or torque specs or piston firing order......shit I know none of that. I know I can read a book and figure it out......but I don't have the time or patience.
I can't wait til I have to put this massive clusterfuk of a wiring harness back on......I'm sure I'll be throwing things. haha

If anyone gives you sh*t because of it, tell them to smoke a pole.
Do what's best for you to enjoy your toy. Me, I have to buy mine...haha
SOME I will be doing....but not much.
