Goodguys autcross VS SCCA Solo event

I have been getting the itch to get out and go around some corners.

I have set my date for October this year for a local Goodguys autocross event.
I have been out and watched at the Goodguys event but never been to a SCCA Solo event.

Are the two similar?

If I enjoyed the Goodguys race think I would find the SCCA race as much fun?

I guess my thought is the SCCA race will be much more serious and not nearly as laid back but, never having been its only an assumption.

If anyone has been to both and could give me some insight I would be grateful for it.

They are similar. I do know that the Goodguys line the course with the most cones I have ever seen (at least at some of the events). SCCA events won't have nearly as many cones.

SCCA will have more classes and different rules, so get a copy of the rulebook and see where you will end up. Have fun!

The SCCA event will be a much larger and faster course most likely and you'll likely be asked to shag cones when not running.

There is no comparison. The SCCA will have a much bigger, safer course, that will allow you to learn more about yourself as a driver and your car. The SCCA events have much higher speeds, and are much more organized. You will have to work, but only the same amount of time you run, and in the end its not hard and well worth it for the fun you have. Dont worry about rules or classes, most regions have novice classes and are more than willing to help you figure out where you stand.

When is the right time to start at an SCCA autocross? If you're asking that question you're ready!
