Tyre Sizes
Hi
Need some advice on tyre size. I have 15x7 standard steel rims. What size sits on good with these? I think the 225/70 is the standard size 15 inch tyre. What have others fitted? Has there been rubbing problems with standard suspenion?
Appreciate your thoughts on this befor I invest lots in new tyres.
Thanks
Victor

I'm going with 235/60/15 all the way around on a suspension lowered 1.5" so you would have no issues with rubbing with a stock suspension.
I actually ran this configuration with 14" tires back in the day and really liked it on a stock suspension. It handled really well too.

I have 245/60's in the front and 275/60's in the rear on 15x7 Z28 5 spokes.
No rubbing and I like the aggressive stance.

Those rear tires are a bit wide for a 7" wheel.
A 7.5-9" rim is recommended for BFG TA Radials in 275/60-15.
I went with 255/60-15s on my 7" N90 wheels. (Perfect fit, IMO.)

I agree ...I run 235/60-15 on the front and 255/60-15 on the rear.
I use the 5-spoke Z wheels and the car is lowered 2" front and rear.
I have no problems at all.
Lots of guys run 275's on stock 5-spoke Z wheels but I think they bulge too much.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Goodyear EAgle or BF T/A 's look nice on a stocker Camaro. The older series 2nd gens Z's had F70 , the the latter ones about '77 up I think came with taller G70 series. THese were about 235 's . I 'd stick with all four the same what ever you get .

Here's what the sidewall bulge is like with 275's.
I grew up with pro street and drag cars in the garage, so I've grown partial to a little meat in the rear, I guess that's why I like the way this looks.
Anyways it drives fine like this, I don't notice any ill handling properties because of having too wide of a tire in the rear.

I'm using 245-60-15 on all 4 corners. There are no clearance problems with stock suspension. They would likely rub on front if you lower the car.

Above a 245 on a 7" rim you are really not accomplishing anything other than looks, been there done that, the contact patch and sidewall flex becomes so poor. I really would not run beyond a 255 on these 15x7s, if you really NEED more tire than that pony up and widen the wheels and do it correctly.

15x8's all around. 235/60R15's up front, 275/60R15's out back. Fills the wheel wells pretty good.
