Bill's Camaro Projects
Well, I've been debating starting up a progress thread and after reading through some of the fantastic ones here end to end I've been inspired to do so. This is not only a great way to share ideas and collaborate but a fun and fulfilling way to keep a long-term record of the ins-and-outs of that project for posterity. (Also, no doubt a great way to recieve a communal kick in the pants when one starts to slack on progress) I'm looking forward to sharing with you all in the weeks and months (years?) to come.
Anyway... here is the first victim

I'll post more pics shortly, I got the project underway before I started this thread so we will be joining the regularly scheduled program already in progress as they say

Here is the closest I have to next stage in the process. Cleaned up the garage, sold the hood to someone who needed it and started disassembly of the rolling shell. Will post the background on the car and how I wound up with it next along with some goals and general direction of the project

Progress is going to jump a bit ahead since I was not photographing as I went along, but there will no longer be an excuse for that.

Car is a 1971 Norwood built car. Originally had a column shift auto trans. Found it sitting at an abandoned gas station with a sign on it asking way too much for a rolling shell in my opinion. Drove by it several times before I finally stopped and looked, was more solid than my driveby inspections had previously determined Wound up making an offer on it and brought it home for $750 complete with a good title and a few spare parts sitting in it where the interior once resided. Car had no glass, no trim, basically just as it sits in the first pic, that was taken as soon as it rolled off the trailer.

Good deal there. Buy a rust bucket to get the basic parts you need for this car. Car looks very solid from what's shown. Hard to find these days.

I bought a truckload of parts out of Ohio plus have a parts car and have been accumulating a lot of stuff. Been actually buying/selling/trading early second gen parts for a little bit now so if anyone needs anything or has parts to trade let me know

Jumping ahead a bit... this is what she looks like right now... I'm removing rear underseat pan on the drivers side to weld in a donor part then have to section passenger frame rail and seat pan next, these are the only two serious rust areas I've found so far. More pics of that work to follow...

Got a great deal on the rotisserie used, was watching craigslist like a hawk for six months and snagged this the second it got posted... my oldest boy and I had her mounted on it inside of 2 hours after we got back. Something oddly satisfying about flipping that car up on it's side effortlessly

Ditto. The rotisserie makes it a whole lot easier to put the dash back together. Keep track of as many fasteners as you can.

Good point there, dash is still in right now, I'll document it well when taking out. Converting the car to 4-speed too so have to hang new pedals and setup linkage.

Welder
I'm new to welding, having a bear of a time with stick welder, have a spot-weld attachment too and that's not working like it should. Thinking of going out and getting a MIG / flux core combo setup. Any input is welcome
