pollished alluminum valve covers

Got in new pollished alluminum valvers cover from summit and they seen to have a black type discoloration in the metal. Is this normal for this type of metal or is it cause there not the 200 dollar version.

Aluminum will get "blackish". Get some aluminum polish and rub it out.

That is standard aluminum corrosion. That is why many factory aluminum parts were anodized. The anodizing coating prevents corrosion.
If you can find a high quality clear high temp paint, you can clearcoat the aluminum once you get it polished again. Paint will never stand up like anodizing did, but it will keep the valve covers looking nice a lot longer than without it.

I think I purchased the same covers mine have nice finish on them I even had a cylinder head shop in town drill a oil fill hole that uses the old style Chevy rubber plug.

I would just polish em up every so often imho.

thanks for the suggestions guy they are still haven't ever been on the car so ill try to polish them before putting them on.
