fuel pump?
i have a 1979 z28 camaro with a chevy 350 small block. i have a 650 holly carb on it and ever since i put it on it last summer if i get on the gas too much it shuts off real easy. we came to the conclusion that it was vapor locking but now its winter time and not too cold but cold enough it couldnt vapor lock.. and it still shut off. i think it has the original fuel pump so could it maybe be that the fuel pump cant keep up with the carb? any other explanations? what should i do and how. i need help so i can get my baby back on the road!

Are you sure the float bowl level is right ?
|
Look at the carb first. A stock factory mechanical fuel pump will keep up with an 750cfm Holley and larger.
|
I also think you need to check float height. Holley's web site has some very good tech sheets on setting up & tuning Holley's.
Welcome to Nasty Z.... :) |
thanks! i had a family friend put on the carb and he has been known to drink and work so might check the float bowl level lol
