Radiator help
What is the overall width, height and thickness and the inlet and outlet size of the original SB cooler in a 72? I don't have the Camaro close to me at the moment so I can't check it out for myself.
I'm thinking of getting a new one for my 72 because the original radiator doesn't have enough capacity to keep the engine cool on hot days and I have to order a new one soon to get the stuff overhere before the summer I'm thinking about Be Cool or Griffin, anyone else using one of those? Magnus |
Do a search for an aluminum radiator on here....lots of different things...
If you want 'stock' size, they make them, but THOSE are $$$$... There are some out there that are cheaper, but some work is needed to make them fit properly. |
I was thinking about this one but does it have the same meassurments as my stock radiator have?
Overall Width (in): 33.000 in. Overall Height (in): 19.000 in. Overall Thickness (in): 3.000 in The price of the radiator doesn't matter much because it's the shipping that is the expensive part. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ![]() |

I have seen that one too but I want an all aluminum radiator. |
This is the one I run, can't be beat for the price, especially on sale. Only thing you have to watch for is the cap might hit your hood unless you lower the radiator a little. My old hood it hit, this one it didn't so I can't make any guarantees there.

The Stock Dimensions are listed on the site of that radiator. Any bigger and its major modification time |

Now I see.
Then my original radiator is a 20 3/4" x 17" x 1 1/4" because it's a original 307 cui no AC car. Would it be possible for me to change it to a hevy duty radiator 26 3/8" x 17" x 2" if I get a new upper radiator mounting panel? What's the difference between the radiators on a non AC car and a AC car? I mean does a AC car have a seperate cooler for the AC or is the AC cooler built into the engines radiator? |
When I was looking in the NPD catalog I found these aluminum OE radiators. That must be the perfect radiator to use, aluminum with factory fit.
Anyone using them? ![]() |
