Photo Details
Poster: Kevin Callahan  (see this users gallery)

This is the NHRA required 6in X 6in X 0.125in steel chassis reinforcement plate for a roll bar. A new mounting bracket for the rear shock absorber is mounted to the bottom side of this plate, thereby transferring the loads into the roll bar. To stiffen this location, additional tube braces are welded between the roll bar nodes near the driver's shoulders common with the door diagonals. These braces are in addition to the NHRA required hoop braces that mount on these same pads but connect the top of the roll hoop.
The welded bolt heads visible in the photo are through-bolted with a nut on the backside. These are intended to gather the many layers of original sheet metal unibody and tie them in with the thick NHRA 0.125in. plate. The nuts on the backside are also welded to ensure a permanent structural connection.
