Hi 1FstChevy,
Thanks for such a high rating! I'm glad you like the photo.
The wheels are 17x8 (front) / 17x9.5 (rear) American Racing Equipment Torque Thrust II. I had the entire wheel powder coated with clear, then masked off the rim and had the spokes powder coated with a wrinkle black. Not the easiest way, but I like the way they look now.
As you mentioned, the Torque Thrust "D's", with their grey colored spokes are not offered in the 17" size, and that is the only reason I spent the time / money to paint the Torque Thrust II's. I happen to have rear disks on the car even though you can't see them in that picture.
The tires sizes are 245x45-17 (front) / 285x40-17 (rear)

Awesome car! I really like those wheels also.

Hi Bryankiwi,
Thank you very much for your extrodinary complements. It sounds like you've done lots more of this type of work that I have. My experience is in building lightweight structures for racing (Colegeate competition called Formula SAE, or Austrilasia FSAE in your area) and other sports (like competition tennis wheelchairs).
It's interesting that you mention some attention to detail. When I was learning how weld, machine and car work in general, it was a daunting task to find good sources of information. The internet was not available back then, so my brother and I found ourselves constantly at a disadvantage when it came to finding good sources. I have vowed to share information of that kind whenever possible. Photos on this website are a great way to do that.
I'm very happy that you've enjoyed my pictures, and I encourage you to post anything your own to help out your fellow car builder enthusiasts!
Regards,
Kevin

What kind of backspacing do you have on that thing? Man, it is seriously hot. I want to do a similar look on my '79... I want black TT style rims to accent my yellow/black car.

Thanks Remy, I hope your 73 project turns out well. I'm sure it will be lots of fun! There's something about the second gen styling that just... works.
Regards,
Kevin
