As a long time admirer of NastyZ28.com, I thought it was time to finally send in a photo of some of the Gen II Camaros I've been collecting for the last decade or so. '79 Z/28 collector cars are second to none as far as I'm concerned.

I owned a '79 Z in high school in the early 80's and always regretted the day I sold it. So about 10 years ago I started on a mission of collecting only low mileage, original '79 Z's. Today, I own a fine example of each of the 14 colors Chevy produced that year.

Along the way to collecting the 14 different color Camaros made in 1979, I picked up quite a few other exquisite Gen II cars. That garage in the background contains about (40) 1970-1981 Z/28, Rally Sports, and even a few Trans Ams.

I've also been an avid bracket racer for about 25 years. Being so smitten over '79 Camaros, I decided it was time to build a bracket car fashioned after my favorite car. It really is the "Belle of the Ball" at Sunshine Dragstrip in Tampa Bay on Friday nights. It is extremely competitive while running consistent 5.40's in the eigth mile at almost 130mph.

Hope you enjoy my cars. They have certainly kept me entertained for a while now and hopefully for many more years to come. Thanks, J. Craddock.

You have an amazing collection. Congratulations on your toys. I am starting to get into the second gens more and more. I have been working on my '79 Z for a while now and it is, by far, the most enjoyable car I've worked on. Being only 17, I still have a ways to go to catch up to your great collection but I really enjoy working on it. Love your cars again and hope you continue to stick with this great year of muscle.

Incredible! I just purchased a 1979 Z28 and I love it! I plan on owning it for a long time.
Again your collection is amazing and thats for what I can see. If you have 40 plus more cars garaged I want to know what you do for a living because I obviuosly made a wrong turn somewhere along the carreer path.

Hey 71zz430,

I've got the electric green 79 Z28 on the gallery. It was originally the light green I believe is in the front of your picture. Some day if I ever get the cash up I would like to repaint it the original color. If you dont mind I would like to see some more pictures of your light green one. Maybe you could email me a couple. (kmcl.roby@verizon.net)

Thanks
Kevin

...and I thought I liked the '79 a lot! Here is a true 79 Camaro fan.

I always think its the best year in terms of the models, available engines and interior, I just wish they were a bit faster from the factory. I'm always embarassed when I tell interested parties that the standard 350ci only produced 170 bhp, even when brand new!

Hi. Thanks for the comment. I totally agree with you on the horsepower situation. All the cars I have now are completely stock for the most part and not all that fast. When I had my new '79 Z back in 1979 it only ran 16.60's in the quarter, even with a 4-speed. I couldn't outrun my sister-in-laws '73 454 Caprice Coupe. I knew I had to do something. A set of hooker headers with true dual exhaust, all pollution controls removed, an aluminum intake and a Holley 780 vacuum secondary put me at a best of 15.09 in the quarter mile. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was just a kid and rough on that car back then, I should have been shot for treating it so bad. I'm making up for it now however. I treat all of my cars like my kids. Thanks for looking, John.

Michigan must have been a popular place for '79 Z28's to find their first homes. One of my blue Z28s came from Muskegon.

Having that many cool cars in itself deserves a 10 rating. I own one and I'm having the time of my life with this car. Cruise nights are great and the drags are even better. If you are a regular at cruise nights they must have bets on which one you will be taking. anyways nice picture
