At 167k and running 60 Valvoline to get 20 psi when hot. 60 psi when engine is cold. I know I need to replace that old 305 with that 350 on the garage floor. But in the mean time would synthetic help the situation??

Synthetic may help it live longer but won't raise the oil pressure. Be gentle with it until you can do the swap, you should be able to squeeze a few more miles out of it.

There is absolutely no reason you should switch to synthetic.

is that straight 60 weight? If so, you may be causing extra wear on cold starts (especially in winter now) since that 60wt isn't going to pump to the bearings very quickly untill it is warm. Is there anything like 30w60 that you could run to get the oil moving faster on cold starts?
Sounds like your bearings must have a mile of clearance to only get those pressures with 60wt!
