I'm getting a 383 installed in my '80 Z. My mechanic says that the A/C compressor won't fit because of the tall valve covers. I know I'm not the only one with this problem. What can I do (besides getting shorter covers-I like these)? Is there a certain bracket that I need or can I relocate it? Does Summit or Jegs sell a kit? Thanks in advance.

The easiest way is to get the short valve covers. You can buy those "correct align" brackets, but I never could get mine to align correctly (go figure) so I went back to the good ole GM ones.

What I did with my tall cast aluminum MOROSO valve covers was to eliminate the up rear bracket. This allowed me to use a longer belt I think about 1"-2". This worked great for me. I have the long A-6 style compressor.

I dont use my manifold to compressor bracket either. It cocks out a little, but I havnt thrown the belt yet.
