I have been working on this combination for about 6 years changing my mind about a half dozen times a year. Now that I am getting near assemble (it will never be complete) I want to see if my combo is close to what everyone thinks is close to perfect for the $ and the strip. The car is a 80 Z with 60K. It is by my assesment the perfect 80 to start with. It has no options execpt Z-28. Standard interior and every thing.
So this is the rest of it.
85 454 4 bolt with studded mains sq decked and Torque plate honed. Forged Nitrited 366 crank, 7/16 rods honed for floating pin new arp wavlocs, SRP 12 to 1 pistons, 049 ovals 2.19 1.88s pocket ported chambers polished & opened to the cylinder edge.
The trans is a ST-10 with (I think is a 2.43 1st) N-Iron case. I will be using a centerforce Dual friction clutch and a sfi hays steel flywheel with a scatter sheild.
The rear is a 69 camaro 12 bolt with a Eaton Posi and Tom's KA Axels. I have yet to get a gear but it will be a 4.11 (now a 3.55).
The suspension consists of a stock rebuilt front end with 6cyl springs and no sway bar. The rear are new 4 leafs with a 1/2 leaf added to the front and the fronts all clamped. It has 9X28 MT slicks.
I don't have a cam (thinking of a clay smith solid with 258 at .050 and .615 lift and 108 lobe sep) or intake ( Victor or G Team) and I will be using a 750 Dominator cause I got it free. I know the heads aren't the greatest but I spent my $$ on the bottom end so as to allow better heads cam ETC later without concern for the rotating assembly. Plan to shift at about 6800-7200rpm
Thanks ahead of time.

It does have 60K but from what I can tell the tranny and rear are factory but changed. The 10 bolt has 3.73s and the 4 speed doesn't have the 3.42 1st is should have. Plus it have a N-Iron case with a 78 date casting. The suspention and 12 bolt are in the car. I am just waiting till I have the 427 done to pull the 78 truck engine that replaced the blown up factory 350. Some one has done some drag racing with it cause the scatter shield is from a previous owner and it had a pretty hot 350 once so I am told. Needs some cleaning up but I really like it. No need to come to Nebraska.
