I remember seeing an old thread about a guy getting t3 garret turbos off old 350s or 305s dont remember, and fixing them up and making custom exhaust for it, however.
i have a 350 79 block, basically stock for the moment, need to get heads, cam, intake. i got a 600cfm edelbrock, n what not, its a 2 bolt i believe.
is it possible for me to salvage up some exhaust from a wrecking yard and fix em up?
i ask this bc i never really thought about doing it, til my friend said Lets do it!. hes good at making exhaust, headers etc. good welder. his father owns body shop. but
what gains would i see if i got two turbos off of engines and stuck em on my 350, what negative things would happen? is it worth it? thx sorry for it. would my engine like melt lol.

Check out high performance mods section. You'll need more than random exhaust parts. You will need a custom manifold as well.

The first thing to look for in a (twin) turbo setup is your bank account. :)

If you run too much boost/too much timing/too low an octane/too lean you could get a detonation problem that can crack your stock cast pistons.

Here's some of the recent forum info on turbo's... might take a while to read up on it .... I just watched an episode of American Muscle Car that featured Gale Banks, and his turbo stuff... gets pretty "insane" . He figures, the only thing limiting you're turbo motor is fuel octane, and the strength of the parts in the motor... turbo's are "cool", and if you do it right, can be very affordable. Gale Banks made the quote saying " for every 1 psi you charge the motor with, you get 7% more power.... so at just under 15 psi of boost, you can "double' you're HP.... as long as everything is "built right " He is doing """"insane""""" things with turbo deisel's right now! http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80948&highlight=turbo ... http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93437&highlight=twin+turbo ....------ Here's a link to watch... sit back, grab sumpin to eat, and turn up the volume !!! ... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=gale+banks&search=Search ..... here's a link for ebay turbo's... probably better to find a "local" supplier, etc , but ebay has a ton of info / idea's on which turbo's to buy, airmaps, etc... i usually use ebay more like a "yellow pages" of info, lol... http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=turbocharger&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=T2Z+4G2&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&sadis1=100&fpos1=T2Z+4G2&lsot1=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=&sadis2=100&fpos2=T2Z+4G2&lsot2=

turbo's = the BEST thing IMO for HP & street driving.
turbo's = LOTS OF FAB work & swearing
turbo's = expensive if you're at the mercy of people doing the work for you
Overall, its expensive but not hard providing you're willing to spend money in the right places. After its done, you'll NEVER regret it.
