hey guys
well i have a question that applies to the bb swap. i have an autometer water temp gauge, and the sending unit fit into the small block just fine. but the holes on the intake on the big block are too big. what size adapter do i need(what size is the hole in the intake and what size is the temp sending unit?) thanks guys.

Andy, I think they are 1/2" NPT to 3/8" maybe.
How is the car coming? Got any pictures?

the car is doing good, 1981z28owner came over a couple weeks ago and we almost got to break it in, but there were just a couple things that didnt work out right, like the temp sending unit not fitting, a couple other fittings, the belts werent the right ones, and just ran out of time. but once i get a couple small parts, and after my first test is over, it should be about time to break it in. no new pictures yet, only thing different is the carb is on, headers fit, radiator is back in. but its close, its real close, just need a good day and she should finally be running again.

yea, im just excited to finally get this thing done and running again. it is so very close, as long as the parts come in and i can figure out the right belt to buy, hopefully should be doing the rest by next weekend, hard to believe it might finally be running again.

Andy you should be able to take your sending unit to carquest and show them what you have and what you need and they will hook you up.
I think it's just the next size up... could be 1/2"-5/8"
It'll be a brass reducing bushing.

hmmm....yea, im just not sure. i was thinking it was the 1/2 to 5/8, but that would be reducing. my temp sending unit is too small for my intake hole, so i need a fitting that reduces the size of the hole for the unit. so maybe a 1/2 male fitting that has a 3/8 female for the sending unit. anyone have any previous experience and can say first hand what it is?
