i found the best holley carbs to run on a tunnel ram that are metered for dual carb application are the holley 450's or 660 center squirters . on my tunnel ram i noticed i make more power and it's alot more responsive with the 660's . both of these carbs are mechanical secondary but the 450's do not have a accel pump on the secondary side

if you run 600 vac secondary carbs you need to run a balance tube between the secondary vacum cans in order for proper operation of the secondaries

I hope you tied the secondarys together with the covers that have the vacume ports on them otherwise they can open at differant times that happened on mine. Holley sells them and the 600's will work exellent on that motor. what did you jet them at?

those carbs should work perfectly out of the box with little or no adjustment i would though suggest using a #35 squirter as that seemed to help my combo out very well . but remember the 450's are mechanical secondaries with no accel pump for that side so you'll get a flat spot upon opening up the secondaries quickly ,this is why i went to the 660's as they have mechanical secondaries with accel pumps on both ends

if you do mount those mech secondary carbs on the tunnel ram you're in for a big grin when you mash the loud pedal .it's going to feel like a totally different motor after driving around with vac secondary carbs

They work great! I cant give a before after comparison, I did a motor change and added them at the same time and have only been to the track once since and it was hotter than you know what. The car stuck like crazy and had a little different feel to it and on the street you can back them off and get a good ride. They are worth the money IMO.

My block is a 270 block. 4 bolt. If I remember right when I deciphered the stamp it was a 69 block too. My understanding is it was the earlier 427 blocks that have the large one piece boss cast into the back of the block that the dizzy passes through. Mine has that too, so I don't know for sure.
'Mortec' shows a 270 block as 1969 and 2 or 4 blt.

I didn't figure out what the original application of my block was. I assumed it would be a Biscayne or Caprice as they were about 2000 times more common than same engined Corvette. I got my block out of a jet boat, and promptly ground the stamped #s off....three times now.....I'd love to be able to say with confidence that "I have a corvette engine". Not that I really give a rats arse, could been a dump truck for all I care, ITS MY BABY NOW!

I also had a pair of 781s, and they worked real well, even with the stock 2.06/1.72 valves. They went to help out another member. I stepped up to a pair of Brodix Racerites, which are muuuuch better, especially now that they have seals on the exhaust valves. A perfect upgrade from 781s as the RR chamber is nearly the same 118cc, and they oval port too.
290hr cam here, .578 lift, 232@.05 9.7:1 compression with SRP pistons.

Don't take the split bumper/fake RS/ect. banter to heart. You car is awesome, and if you can make two carbs work for ya, you're way the hell ahead of me, and 90% of everyone else. Just one of them things you're going to get some friendly teasing about. We all have pretty much the same cars here, and the same goals, with few small differences here and there. Teasing each other reminds us of the things we do to our cars to make them unique.

Ya pretty much have to tear the panties off a few small block cars and wave them constantly or you're going to hear, "Pig Block" once in a while too. Its all good and we're all friends here, really.

Peace out.

i have an lw stamp code on my front pad indicating it to be a 435 horsepower block out of a 69 vette with aluminum heads & auto transmission.
LW code, That code is also a six-pack motor, best I can tell they only made 390 L-89 aluminum head motors in 69, you got one rare motor there for sure, I would be proud of it as well.

6.10's no nos in the 1/8th

And was this a sanctioned track you ran these 6.10's at. Cause unless those photos are old, I sure don't see a cage in there.... I take it you have your license and said cage (which is not present in photos) is certified???

i have a 69 427 out of a corvette bored 30 over ,steel crank 11 to 1 comp.,crane gold roller rockers,781 heads that are hogged out, pete jackson gear drive, 637 solid lift comp cam, turbo 350 with a 4500 stall and 430 gears out back and a weiand tunnel ram with 2 600 carbs about to put my 2 450's on, also msd 6al box and coil and a mallory dist. i am just waiting on my aluminum radiator to get here from summit, anybody have any luck with these radiators from summit?

I am having trouble with this combo and its times. Unless mine is totally not running right, but been racing for many years and have dailed this thing in.

My setup; 427, .030 over, steel crank, 11.75 to 1, Harland Sharp full rollers, Brodix big brodie aluminum heads with full port job (intake, exhaust, and chambers), 625 lift sold roller cam, th400 with 4500 stall, 4.56 gears out back, and a high rise dart single plane intake with a 950 HP on top.

SO basically we have almost identical setup, maybe with my heads being better and more gear. Tunnel rams are for high rpm which I don;t see being a benefit in the 1/8, but more for 1/4 blasts.

My best 1/8 time is only 7.11, just trying to find that full second in your setup. And a second is a lot in the 1/8. (or the 1/4 for that matter)

* note: these times were done on the 28x9 et streets and et drags. Current setup with the pro street setup did not effect 1/8 or 1/4 times. (actually hurt it a hair more, closer to 7.50)

He very well could be running those times I know I had an 9.1 comp 461 that
had such mild stuff in it and the car ran 7.30 in the 1/8. My vega years ago has a tunnel ram with 2 465 holleys on it and was faster and quicker than any 4 bbl that I could find. One thing to remember here is that t-rams with 2 cars place less demand on the fuel system than 1 4 bbl [someone correct me it I am wrong] and depends also on how heavy the car is. 6.49 is equivelent to 9.90 in the 1/4 so 6.10 should run 9.60 or so anything is possable.

i've got 2.25 valves on my heads i was running a 1050 dominator with 8.5 #'s of fuel, do you have subframe connectors? also you might want to look at your stall, i had a 3800 and switched to a 4500, i know you said you had a 4500, what rpm are you coming out of the hole at,also a tunnel ram has lots of power ,you would not believe the difference a tunnel ram makes. also i had 11#'s of air in my slicks.

p.s that setup should be faster than the times you are stating, trust me i know.check your timing advance it ,you are going to have to do some tuning because that motor should be putting out more horsepower and better times than that

also another thing i think you have to much gear, try running a taller tire i bet you will notice a big difference, i also was going to go with a 456 gear, but iwent with a 430 and my off the line is awesome, my slicks bite real good i have the 100.00 lakewood traction bars and they really work well, i asked another member about switching to cal tracs but i don't know yet.

Garay,

Ok, but gotta ask, the 6.10, is that with the 496 combo, or is that with the friends shortblock you just bought. And if it is with the friends shortblock, what has been done to it.

ok, now I gotta ask, what are the specs on the bigger motor that ran the 6.10, and what times have been run so far on the 427.
