I plugged in the flow numbers for Sportsman II's, along with the rest of the data and got
386hp @ 5500rpm, and 404 ft-lbs torque at 4500.

Its been my experience that DD shoots high though.

Bottom line, don't race a new LS1 for pinks.

Uh, I don't know what LS1 you're talking about. But a friend of mine has a new (the last year they were made) Trans Am that has an LS1 in it.

He wanted to see how fast it was, so I raced him in our 79 Z28.
I kicked his ass!
And our 79 does not have that much power, 350hp tops.
And I'm willing to bet that his Trans Am is atleast 400lbs lighter than our Z.

So either the LS1 is not as fast an engine as you say it is, or my friend does not have a clue how to drive.

Whatever, I guess I don't get out much.

If you can swing the cost of a stroker it's well worth it. Good luck.

Eliminator SS, how bad did ya whoop your friend? I usually get them out of the hole, and hold em half way through second gear, then they ease around me, but then again, my car starts busting up after 4500 rpm for some reason.................Stak

my wifes LS1 stock automatic fully loaded
i mean fully loaded too ran 8.97 1/8 mile
and 13.79 1/4 off the lot, we dynoed it the next year at the ear wheels it had
283 hp 303 ftlbs
we added flowmaster, kn filter, had the fuel/timing reprogramed now it has
297 hp 323 ftlbs and ran 8.74 1/8
spinning a little, maybe with traction woulda run 8.65?

Mwilson,, that is awesome, the best time i have gotten out of my car is an 8;64@ 80 mph in the 8th, it spinned a little, but like i mention its busts up around 4500 rpm, but after 5000 it clears up and pulls even harder, I recently slapped a speed demon 750 on inplace of my holley, and i am in the process of installing a msd distributor and blaster coil, to go with my msd box, in hopes that it will solve my problem, my car is a t top full interrior car too

I'd have to say something might be wrong with that particular LS1. On my '02 T/A, I have a SLP Mass Air Flow unit and SLP Loud Mouth exhuast and no other mods. It was dynoed 323 horses @ the wheels, though it hasn't turned better than 13.2's in the 1/4 because of traction problems.

Our average on the dyno for LS1's is about 300 rwhp stock.
