I am making plans for a winter project with my 71. The non numbers matching 350 she has could probably be rebuilt for better performance but I am thinking about replacing her with a BB. I had a guy offer me a complete '77 rebuilt (5000 miles ago) 454 for $1,500. He said it would bolt right up to my existing motor mounts. Has anyone ever put a 454 in their Camaro before? My 71 has working AC that I want to keep intact.

Currently has an automatic TH350 with a 3:42 posi rear.

How much of a job is replacing an engine? I am very mechanical but have never done an engine swap.
