well 1981z28owner came over for a little while and we got some more done on the big block swap, but still some little things to take care of, but so close. i did have a question about the ps pump. I bought a new pump since my car is a 79, so i bought the older style pump. i bought the brackets from gm parts, but i was wondering if someone could put up a picture of where the brackets go. they are just completely different than the small block so i wanted to make sure i put them on correctly, thanks guys.

I don't have any pictures as mine are completely disassembled and in a box, but if it helps one of them is shapped like a channel and bolts to a boss on the water pump.

well i appreciate it.......i do have the brackets, and have figuredout how the bottom one works, but still not sure how the other one works, its sort of rounded. if anyone has any pictures, that would be great, thanks.

There is a bracket and spacer ring that goes between the pulley and the pump/resevoir. That gets bolted down.

thank you very much for the pic, just hard to see since everything is black and the angle, but its still appreciated. i especially like the reflection in the air filter lid. so where does the spacer ring go?? i bought it....but does it go under the bracket, or between the bracket and the pulley?? so which touches the PS pump housing, the spacer or the bracket?? thanks again.

Remember this thread? My pump bracket has 3 bolts that go in to the block, two in front and one just under the head (pic)

OK....the order goes like this - pulley....then bracket that cradles pump/resevoir....then spacer ring.....then pump face. Only one in the front if I remember correctly....and then one in the back to 'hinge'.....then the mount for the block.

Shoot....lemme go run outside real quick if it isn't too wet outside....:crazy:

OK, I snapped off a few....hope they help....will shrink them some and email them,.....

If you have a 70-72 assembly manual or access to one, you can see in better detail the mounting....

thanks for the pics, they really do help. next time im at my parents house(where the car currently sits) i think i need to take some pics of the brackets i got, i used the part numbers someone had on here, but my bottom one seems a little different and i dont know if i have the one in the rear for the block. but its been a little while since i really messed with them, so ill take a look hopefully in the next week or so.
