I was all ready to fire up the new engine yesterday and could not get the #3 plug to go in without putting a dimple in the header. Does anyone know of a "header" type plug that will work with the afr 210s? Summit is telling me that Accel does not make a plug that cross references to a Autolite 3923 or like. This is a 14mm, 5/8 hex, 0.75 reach, gasketed plug.

thanks.

The 210s are angle plug. I am using Doug's headers. I was using these same headers with a set of Dart Pro 1 angle plug and didn't have any problems.

The problem is only on #3 and it is sooo close. I might just dimple the tube a little if I can't find any plugs.

Try an NGK plug...they are like 1/4 of an inch shorter then traditional Ac/delcos...might get it to work.

I use 3 of the Bosch in my car. I have angle plug Pro Actions with Hooker super comps

My Vic Jrs recommended a Champion C-63YC or C-61C but when I tried to find them I was told it was an outdated number.
Instead the speed shop crossed them over to an Accel 765. Work great. they are the same 14mm x .75 reach, 5/8" gasketed as you need.

I stopped by Advance on the way home last night and bought the one that cross-matched. It was the same length as the Autolite.

Heavy, thanks, I'll take a look at the Accel 765. Do you know how many heat ranges are available in that plug?

I've never had one plug stop me from starting a new engine before. This is a PITA. It WILL be fired up this weekend.

Are the Bosch shorter than standard size?

What part # are you using?

I looked at the Accel 765 and they are listed as "standard", not "shorty".

just measured a 765. They are 2" from tip to gasket seat, maybe this will give you a reference.

The problem is that you are running a "street" type header. You need a "race type" header where the #1 and #2 tubes route OUTSIDE the others, insted of inside... Headman makes a great square port 1 3/4" that fits not only the heads but the car as well...

I will try to look at them tonight and get the part number. I will probably have to pull one out to look otherwise I would get it before work today.
I did a quick serach on the Bosh site and found this:
http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/PartFinder/partfinderResults.asp
I will confirm this as soon as I can

That's interesting. I have never heard that distinction before. So why does the routing of the #s 1 & 2 tubes designate them as "race " headers? Got a part #? I looked in Summit and they have over 200 listings for chevy headers and the description in the title heading is not very descriptive.

DCS, thanks, I appreciate that.
