Ok this question is about my dad's motor. He says he has no power. And he feels like his car is missing or something around there. He has had multiple carbs, he was having a fuel pressure problem, now that is fixed and he is still having trouble.
He has the RHS pro torker heads. pn12400. he is running NGK V power plugs. He is running a Summit ignition box and a reworked distributor. He thinks he is not burning all of his fuel. He thinks his 3 and 5 cylinders are not firing correctly. He is running 38* total timing and his vacuum advance is unplugged. What plug gap should he run? Or what could the problem be?

Its a SBC.

What is your reasoning behind getting rid of the ignition box and his distributor? It is an MSD billet dizzy. Can you elaborate on why he should toss it? I don't want to tell him to get rid of it and put all the old stuff back on without a good reason. I always thought that an ignition box would help to burn all of the fuel.

sbc=.35-.45 i personally run .45 350.
if its spewin to much fuel it mignt need tuned down, adjusted right? is the carberater set right? or qjet or is it fuel injected?
im just tossing random things that could be a problem >.<

He has 72s and 78s as far as jets go. its a holley 4160 that has the 4150 conversion kit put into it. so i guess its a 750 dp. he just told me that he is gonna go to 70-76 jets and regap his plugs. maybe that will fix it. when he was tuning his carb before he had no fuel pressure so he jetted the carb way up and i think it is still jetted up to much. i think he has BIBs with his carb.

Toss those crappy plugs and get some cheap ass Champions.
Then put some di-electric grease on the tips and reinstall the wires. Then put some on the dizzy terminals as you put some the wires back on that.
Check the cap for HAIRLINE cracks.....or since they're so cheap, get a NEW one at the parts store. Get a new rotor as well. They're even cheaper.
I bet that cures ALOT of problems. And gap them at .045 like mentioned.
CHECK IT....don't trust it from the box. Some anti sieze on the plug threads will help out alot later on down the road too.....
IF ITS STILL MISSING OR RUNNING BAD.......do a compression check. If that doesn't show anything, do a leak down. Might be a bad cam and a leak down will show this.
