I want to know how large you can SAFELY and RELIABLY make an OEM 454 block for street use? I've built a 496 before with no problems, but I want more and ran across a good deal on a standard bore, 4-bolt main 454 block, so I have a great starting point.

4776 ... here' my favorite. A 598ci bbc, running 40lbs boost on mostly pump gas = 1873 hp. ...I'll find out more about the block / crank / bore specs, and post them

496 is a safe number. If you wanna go bigger than that you gotta buy the right parts. I say get a 540 short block and build it from there. World products has NICE stuff!

I've seen as big as 524 stroker kits from www.flatlanderracing.com for 454 blocks.

.060 block and a 4.25 crank.

I have no idea if that's "Safe", but it's out there.

Go with the 4.25" stroke. There's a wide selection of piston/rod combos, a ton of different brand and quality cranks plus there are a lot of folks that have built and run 'em, you can learn from their combos, etc.

The '496' is about a safe way to go to stroke a 454....:bowtie:

This is the combo for a 496. I've already been there. Just wondering if a larger crank will fit and still be streetable. I guess I might sell the 454 stuff and save up for an aftermarket block.

I realize that now. I was just quoting what I found:

What do you have to "possibly" sell???
