Are the 76cc heads from the early 70's even worth rebuilding?

they can be, it all depends. You need to verify the casting numbers, and have them checked for cracks. If they are cracked, usually it is cheaper to buy new ones. If not, then depending on the heads and flow numbers they may be worth rebuilding.

Generally speaking, it is at least the same price or so for second hand aftermarkets that perform much better.

Get a quote to rebuild those heads to the level you're looking for then price compare to aftermarkets. Unless you're looking for a stock rebuild the aftermarkets are usually cheaper and have the potential for more power too. Early 70's heads will need hardened exhaust seats installed as well, bringing up the price.

Imho, 76 cc heads can be made to run quite well b/c they don't shroud big valves if you install them in them. For instance on a mild 406 motor

BUT more than likely a set of aftermarket heads will cost about the same as reworking stock heads AND they will be NEW and usually a lot better designed.

If your gonna due guides & valves might as well invest in newer better heads.

I had a set. I did'nt even know they were shaved. My friend is in 11's with em. with stock valves. 1.94/1.50 respective. the nickel content is up there..n there srong, i wana rebuild my l48. i have dart heads too i rock. serious though
