Ok so I had my valves re-cut about 5000 miles ago two were out of round and hanging open. Now it appears that I have the same issue the exhaust valves on cylinders 1 & 2 are not seating once again. So with my limited knowledge I'm guessing it's got to be:
1) I need a new machinst
2) The seats on these old fuelie heads are DONE (never were really desinged for unleaded fuel anyways)
3) For whatever reason the valves never really seated properly and it took a while for the issue to get bad
4) A combination of 1 and 3
So should I go throught all the hassle of pulling these again and tryin to find a new machinist, risk taking them back to the same guy (he has done good work in the past) or put my fuelies on ebay and fork over the dough for some new alumimnum ones?

Unless stellite seats are installed for the exhaust valves, the stock raw cast iron exhaust seats don't last very long with unleaded fuel. A little extra load, a little lean, and you can sink the seats in a very short period of time. An easy check, back the rocker arms off of the valves that aren't sealing (with the rocker arm in the relaxed position), if you need to loosen the rocker nut much more than a turn to loosen the rocker arm, the valve has sunk into the head and seats will need to be installed if a long term repair is required.

Your pocketbook will determine if alloy heads are the best "repair". :D
