Hi everybody.

I have a stock carbed Vortec Motor and now I am looking for a cam that will work with only a Getto grind done on the retainers. I am actually looking for a cam that is at least 224 intake 224exhaust with 106 LSA. My problem is now the lift and the price as well as where to find it. I am actually thinking of CompXE cams. I have a turbo 350 tranny with a shift kit on the motor. Any recommendation is welcome as I need a staccato kind of sound. Lumpy actually. I use the car both on street as well as strip once in a while. Any link will be appreciated.

First off, what's the compression ratio of your engine so we can pick a cam for you.

What else has been done to it!! Headers, carb and intake, etc...

Rearend gears and tranny as well as car too.

The engine is stock from a 1997 4door 4wD Tahoe. I really dont know the exact compression but I asume 9.4.1 comp. I have short headers on it like block hugerrs. THM 350 tranny and convertor unknown I asume stock. 3.08 limited slip diff and 225/65R14 tires. Eddy performer 750 carb and Performer RPM intake 7116. Stock GM distributor, Spit fire coil and 8.5mm wires. True dual 2inch exhaust pipes with a H. Enlarged the exhaust ports on the heads with a common file.

If you haven't already pulled the factory hyd roller cam, I would forgo the rough idle and take the killer midrange torque that will help accelerate your relatively mild gearing and low stall torque converter. The trucks that those engines came out of are pretty serious performers for what they are.

Consider GM's -476 if it is bigger than what you have?

Flat tappet cam tho..

Otherwise, if it is still a roller cam engine if it was, pick a little-bitty performance roller cam.

Don't forget you will need new valve springs.

Hi Gents

The cam the motor has from factory is Hydrolic Roller cam. Therefore I am now looking for something stronger as in the future I am about to replace the low torque convertor with a 2500rpm one.
