We are checking into to several 383 crate engines. The ZZ383, one from MAS Performance in Wisc.(420HP w/vortec heads), and another 383/425HP from a place in Dallas TX www.strokermotor.com. (http://www.strokermotor.com.)

We visited the shop in Dallas and were very impressed with what we saw. They offered a "turnkey" which is what we want since time is a factor plus this is our first "Project" and we would prefer to have it "ready to go"! The other engines would require adding some parts to make it completely ready.

Please share where u got your engine, what all u had to add as far as parts go like water pumps, fuel pumps, starters etc.

Strokermotor.com - I checked out their site.
One thing I don't like -
<font face="Arial,Verdana" size="2">Federal Mogul: Non-File Fit Moly Ring Set</font>
You really want file fit rings. Yeah its a PITA, but its the only way to get the gaps right.

I really suggest you look into having a local machine shop do the work.
I have used Scat Rotating assy's with great luck. They offer a kit with Crank, I-beam rods, forged pistons, rings, and bearings for ~$1000.
Call my old shop and talk to Ben or Eric.
