Well, I have about 4 projects to work on before I can really get down to restifying my '79 Sport Coupe (If I use caps, it might seem more impressive). The emissions inspection is due in August, and I don't want to have all the headache I had last time to get it to pass. I already have most of the things to build up my new 350, but not the everything, and not the workspace to pull the engine right now anyway. I do have an Edelbrock manifold and carb, and a new MSD distributor and wires. I still need a new EGR kit. Since I was planning to replace the clogged up old cat and toasted muffler this week, should I go ahead and replace the carb, manifold, and distributor on the 305 that's in the car right now? Or should I just make it limp through again and wait until next spring/summer to put in the built 350?

The carb, manifold and distributor will be usable on your new 350. I guess it depends how well these parts are working now as to whether it's worth swapping them onto the 305.

Carb and distributor can be swapped in a couple of hours. The intake will require a few more hours of work and that depends on how stock your engine compartment looks.

Seems like a waste of time to me if you plan to jerk the engine anyway.
