View Full Version : Reuse .015 head gasket? andymiller 06-18-2007, 02:18:04 PM can the .015 felpro head gaskets be reused? hhott71 06-18-2007, 02:27:50 PM on an enemies motor, I'd not stop them from trying. I know they are pricey, but how much is doin the job twice cost. Stock GM gaskets @ 0.017" thick are cheaper. TooLateVTEC 06-18-2007, 03:02:44 PM Never re-use a head gasket. Well, maybe you could get away w/ it on a Hon-duh. :bowtie: 68400BIRD 06-18-2007, 03:16:18 PM negative, NO they are meant to be torqued down once only. andymiller 06-18-2007, 03:22:01 PM Do you have a part # on these? never seen them before on an enemies motor, I'd not stop them from trying. Stock GM gaskets @ 0.017" thick are cheaper. thanks, kinda already knew the answer, but wanted to make sure. hhott71 06-18-2007, 03:55:39 PM Its probably no longer stocked,,, but its what GM used for decades on SBC's pdq67 06-18-2007, 11:03:55 PM Have you ran your engine?? If not, I don't have a problem with using good old Permatex, "Indianhead Shellac Gasket Cement" on them and reusing them!! Put them on TACKY!!! Just be sure and torque them at least three times over that many hot/cold cycles and you should be good to go!! If you don't wanna retorque them a couple a times like I said, then use new ones and be done with it!! And I've stacked shims using the darn sticky stuff fine too! pdq67 |
