Just wondering what you guys thought about an old Holley carb. A buddy has one for sale for 50 bucks. He tells me it needs a reubilt and the kits are around $30 so I'd be into it about $80. The carb is a 4160 series. To view it go to www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com) and in the search section typ in:

hly-0-1850c

I'd post the Summit pic but am unaware on how to do this. ANYWAY....just looking for some insight into this. I know that Holleys are better than E-brock overall for power but didn't know if its worth wasting money on right now. I currently have a squarebore 600 E-brock that's working fine but wonder if it'd be worth having around.

Thanks all!!!

The 0-1850 is the generic 600 vacuum secondary carb. The most basic carb in Holley's product line and it will take a lot of tuning to perform better than the Edelbrock you currently have.

I love Holleys but the reliability of your Edelbrock and the fact that it is easier to tune would lead me to stay away from it unless you want to do some tinkering.

I just bought a running 600 1850 this weekend for $25 you'll probrably find a better deal if you look. Sometimes the local speed shops or aouto mechanice that dable in older cars and such have many of'em just laying around for cheap.

You can get rebuild kits for $15 for those carbs, the speed merchant here in San Jose has them for $14.95. You might have to tune the carb but it will be easier to tune then an edelbrock.

A carb is a carb, none will give you any more power than another as long as they are tuned.

1850 holleys are cheaper and easier to tune than edelbrocks, more reliable IMO than edelbrocks also. I have 1850's on 4 cars and they run great and start faster then fi cars.
