10's are no easy task and not for the light of budget. I don't say that as anything other than fact. No mater how much power you make, it's wasted if you don't have the drivetrain and traction to put it to the track. I've seen a blown 468 in a beautiful 2nd gen toast the tires to 1000' and run a 13 second ET. Likewise I've seen motors that were a JOKE dip into the 10's in a chassis that should never have made it.

The easy way is light car, big tires, big motor and nitrous. Or you can work for it.

No matter what you do you better budget around $10-$15k. I say that because aside from the motor,,,, your budget should include convertor, trans, gear, spool, axles, axle retention, roll bar, traction assist devices slicks/wheels, SFI jacket, helmet, d/s with a 'real' U-joint.....(deep breath)... brakes (making the car stop is just as important), fuel cell, pump, ignition, shifter, battery / weight relocation,,,, and if your thinking N2o add fuel pressure and oil pressure cut off switches, lines, bottles, timer / Window / rpm switch... and for your first 10 second pass I'd highly suggest you take along a clean pair of boxers (j/k)

were you watching me the this year? http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

It's funny you see alot of 12 sec cars and a lot of 10 sec cars ...not many 11sec cars. Why is that? Is there a magic boundry?

Take a look at my profile, this current combonation has netted me a best e.t. of 10.59 (@129) and a best mph of 131 (@11.06) So, it should be easy, just duplicate the components I have listed and you are there !
Oh, did I mention YEARS of clawing, fighting, and knuckle breaking to get there ?

EDIT.... marv said it all. It can be had cheaper but then reliability comes in to play. I know 1st hand that good power and sticky tires = broke stuff.

My 1st 10 sec pass was amazing. You could not wipe the smile off my face. My wife said I smiled day and night for 2 weeks. Hell she thought I was having an affair.

That's as true a statement as it gets!

OR...

have REALLY DEEP POCKETS and pay someone else to build and tune your ride like many of the "heros" you see in the magazines, but then where is the satisfaction?
