Looking at a wrecked '89 Iroc with a 37,700 mile 5.7 TPI motor/700R4 tranny and Posi rear.
Drivetrain is absoutly 100% intact and is still in the car.
Any input on what would be a fair price for it.
Thanks

Oh yeah,
The car also has the 16 x 8 Iroc wheels with good Toyo Proxis and all sheet metal from the doors back in excellent shape.
Basically it would be the entire 37k mile car that was smacked in the front drivers side fender.

Are you really, really sure it's 37K miles and not 137K miles? Really deceiving sometimes. If so I'd say about $1500 bucks easy. And you could ebay all the misc. stuff and get your some of money back if you wanted to bother with it.

I bought my IROC with 95,000 original miles in very good shape, all it needed was a new paint job and now it looks new. Paid $1700. I would say a wrecked one is worth about $400-$700 depending on options.

I think my husband had looked at the same car, was it this one on Ebay?

We bought a '89 IROC in May '04 on Ebay, to get the drive train to put into my '73 Z28 (it looks almost exactly like the one above). The car itself has about 135k on it, but the motor had been professionally rebuilt 30k miles prior, with alot of upgrades (World Products heads, big mouth TPIS stuff, etc.). My husband estimated they spent at least $3k alone on motor work. It had been painted about a year or so prior to us buying it as well, but the nose was dinged up in an accident (minor damage to fiberglass only). We bought it off Ebay for $1826, thinking it was just a "part car" for the drivetrain, but were extremely surprised when we got the car home how solid it really is. We could have just cleaned it up really good, painted the nose piece and sold it for about $4k. It ran awesome and has tons of power. I really wanted the drivetrain for my car though, so that's what we did. My husband bought a car last week on Ebay with the 350TPI drivetrain so he can "revive" the IROC. This is what he got:

We looked for quite a while for both cars. I would expect to pay around $1500-1800 "average" for what you are looking for (or at least it seems that what we've found). If you get a car that has parts you don't need and can resell, then that's a bonus. The 350TPI cars aren't a dime a dozen though, you really have to look hard to find something worthwhile (trust me, we've looked at a ton of junk). Don't forget to look at the late 80's Firebird Formulas and Trans Ams for that same drivetrain too.
