Does anyone have a choice or preference on a sbc long water pump for my 75? Edelbrock, Weiand, Moroso, Jegs, Summit? I had my last one on for 10 years, and it was stock so now im looking to upgrade to an aluminum one. Something in the 100 dollar range too. Any suggestions?

My shop has no problems with the weiand and edelbrock ones.

I've had bad luck with the weiands. For specifically the Action Plus models. I run a Stewart stage 2 and will never run anything else again.

Paid $150 for an Edelbrock. A couple thousand miles later, but OOW timewise, the thing leaks. Getting it repaired, paying shipping both ways, was about $100. Vic wants to piss & moan about the Chinese, but sells overpriced garbage with the same level of quality. Never used them, but have only read good things about Howard Stewart.

Hahaha seems like we just are having a streak of good luck. Nevermind my advice.

Why'd you send it back to have it fixed???? I bought one at Doug Herbert Performance customer appreciation day sale for $100. It sat on the shelf for a year before I used it and it leaked. I called Edelbrock. They sent me a rebuild kit for free.....even shipped it overnight for free. Turns out the bolts on the inspection cover were loose. Didn't even have to take it apart, but I got a rebuild kit for it now in case I ever need it. That's been 3 years ago and not a bit of problem since. They are pretty simple to rebuild. The Edelbrock pump is pretty much equivalent the the Stewart Stage 2 for less money.

75 Camaro, which ever pump you go with, be sure to have your cooling system pressure checked and use a high flow thermostat just to make sure your cooling system is up to par with the higher flow pump.

Not to hijack or anything but how the heck do you know the difference between an long and a short waterpump?

If you use 2 hands to hold it, it's a long one. :innocent:

/The difference is how far it sticks out in front of the engine, the long stands off more from the timing cover.

I've been using a Midwest Motorsports house Brand pump for 2 years with no problems. Only paid $65 then, now it's $70. http://www.midwestmotorsportsinc.com/order_sub.php?id=78

I guess I'm one of those on a lucky streak also with the Edelbrock too. I've only owned one, so my exoerience with them is somewhat limited. Put one on the truck in 1998, it's been through 3 configurations of the motor, from a 7400rpm nitrous boosted 350 to the current hydraulic roller motor. Always with stock ratio pulleys. No problems with circulation and no0 leaks,, but that's just 'so far' . Let's see if it last another 9 years!!! ;)
