Has anybody put side pipes on a Camaro, I'm talking about the chrome 4into1 type like on a lot of Vettes. I remember seeing one back in High school that looked awesome. Would Corvette pipes fit?

Looking through the Gallery I found only one 1980 with side pipes. I did not see any 75s with them.

I like your idea about the side pipes. I tried doing a search and can't believe that more people haven't done that. This is all I could find...

i done it on my 77. But beware once you put them on you cant get to the front fender bolt.I also found out i had to take gutters on a angle, because they were too low and hit.

LOL I should put sidepipes on my '71. There are already holes there. Eight on each side...

Apparently one of the FIVE previous owners (butchers all) had sidepipes on it and had problems getting them to line up right...

Man, the stories this car could tell if it could talk.

I'm told it went from the original 6 to a SB, then to a BB, and then to a Clifford built 6 before I got it with NO engine!

I like my 327 though...

cant say i like the look. seems too bulky, and the ground clearance sucks.

Never a big fan of side pipes.... on any car. (Okay, 427 Cobras excluded!)

Wellllllll........mmmmmmm,NO. A 75-77 already has big bumpers, why put 2 more big tubes on the sides too?

Just ask any babe who's burnt her legs getting into or out of a car with side pipes.

I wouldn't mind sidepipes on my 73 at all.

To each is own, but cant say I like the look on any Camaro. Only car I think the look decent on are some older Vettes. But it only counts what you like, otherwise it would be pretty boring if we all had the same look!!

Be prepared to slow down EVERY time you get near any speed bumps, or other dips or bumps. Tough to mount them high enough to keep the clearance you already have.
The look is good if they are close to the body. The pipes that stand away from the car too much look like they're a fix for a bad exhaust system and a temporary fix at that.
As far as burning anyone, depends on what you get. The ones with grills over the pipe are not a big deal. The sound from them when you get on it are great.

W/O Camaro anymore & spending all hobby money on kids ... one day they'll repay & buy me that 'Z' .... RIGHT ???

Side Pipes - ICK!

Spend your $$$ on engine or suspension mods - besides, the cops will be hounding you until you comply.

I put black header sidepipes on my 75 Camaro. I had them on for less than 1 summer and couldn't wait to get them off. They were too low, rattled like crazy, and people got burned on them. I thought that the black pipes would go nice with the rally paint scheme. For what it is worth, I wouldn't even consider putting them on my car again.

I don't mind the right sidepipes on a Camaro, but I don't think I'd do it myself. Now 63-67 Vettes should only have sidepipes, they look cool and sound even cooler.

Burnt my legs getting out of a friend's car once. Swore off them forever!

Eveyone has an opinion on them!

But no one has addressed the one issue...

PERFORMANCE!

The best sidepipe exhaust ever built was the Hooker header / sidepipe kits. However, even these would not flow as well as a good true, crossover, dual exhaust system!

Side pipes were a trend or fad and were definitely needed on cars like the Cobras & Stingray Vettes due to undercarriage space limitations.

Some people like them, some hate them. If you like the 60's sound of choked-up glass packs, that's fine! It's your car!

More weight, lower clearance, less exhaust flow, and potential leg burns, more attention from police just for looks?

Sounds like a mistake.

You asked for it.

Unless they are the hooker sidepipes (which actually flow miserably with their mufflers).
Get JCL's spiral tubes for mufflers.

All other sidepipes on a 2nd gen look like shit..

I put a set on my '81 Saturday... like Keith said... the stock muffs are garbage. I thinking of starting with 2 of the Schoenfled inserts on each side.
http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/muffle4.gif
Or maybe taking a try at building a set of spirals...

I always like the side pipes on camaro's they look great & sound good they were a period thing so not for every one's taste
Tommy's car looks great with them and seen a few more cars with them, yes Aces got them also
Would I put them on my car????????? yes I like the period look so if I find a set of new tubes sometime I might just lift the front up and mount them, they sit very low
