Alright if anyone remembered my last thread i caught my 75 on fire by letting my plug wires fall on the header. Well today a buddy came by and gave me a set of 8mm accell wires that have to built. Well i know this aren't the greats wires out there but they will get my car back on the road.Anyway i was wondering if anyone had any tips about getting the boot over the wire? I've already got them measured out and marked but i cant get the damn boots on so i can crimp them up.Any help would be great. Thanks Jeremy

dawn dish soap works every time.

You crimp the connectors then install the boots. You have a crimping tool? It's a REALLY good idea to use one.

A touch of WD, light oil, silicone, soap, will ease install.

The trick is to not bend the connector until you start installing the boot, As you install the boot and the connector hits the angle of the boot start bending the connector down into position in the boot. It makes sense and gets easy after you do 1000 or so.

Can you crimp the end on first and then put the boot on?

+1 on the dish soap and a little water,

Rick, ya beat me to it...ha

I learned after about two sets, my hand cramped for a week. I don't think I'd like to do 1000!

All I have is a wire stipper/crimper but it has a spot for plug wires.

i have always put the boots on both sides with dawn soap, then stripped the wire, then folded it back and crimped then slid the boot back over the connector. for like 100 of them.

I think i do it a little driffrent than most. I lube the wire up with the cream automotive hand soap, the one with Aloe in it, then I push the wire through the boot, no end fighting u. Then I strip the wire, crimp on and end, and pull it gently back in place. Seats itself very nicely.

One of these days I will get smart and write down the lengths of all the wires, that way I dont have to remeasure each time. You would think that coming up on my fourth wire change over the past several years, I would have figured that part out! lol

I have always crimped the end on 1st, put dish soap in boot and on wire, pushed boot on and pulled it into place.

I used the dielectric grease that came with my MSD wires. Dish soap or lithium grease would help slip the on after you crimp them.
