This is on the old motor I pulled out of my car about a year ago. I've decided to throw some parts at it and get it out of my garage and out of the way...
I put a cam in the block and left it alone for a few months so that the cam did not get damaged in the garage.
The cam seems like it is stuck in the block, its sticking out of the front of the block about a half inch. It will not move in or out but about a 1/4".
What do you guys think would be the issue? Trying to fix this up to be a back up motor or to sell.

Only things I can think of causing the problem is rust on the cam or the fuel pump pushrod is still in the engine.

Will it spin or is it "seized" where it's at? Take the cam plug out of the back of the block. Take a hard plastic rod/punch or something that won't damage the end of the camshaft and knock it forward.....or backward and see if you can free it up. Maybe even soak the journals in PB Blaster or something equivalent before you do anything. You didn't spray it with WD-40 before you put it in did you?

Stupid thought, still a lifter in place? I like the rubber mallet idea.

I'm either making room in the garage by getting this out of the way, or just refreshing this enough to be a good backup incase those rpms get out of hand in my current engine and send something through the pan. I've been so damn busy at work I haven't done much lately to the car. I did spend a week up in St Johns Newfoundland CA last week, only saw one 2nd gen.
